CBD, CBG and why they are different

CBD, CBG and why they are different

It’s already common knowledge that CBD is the main cannabinoid found in the hemp plant. However, there are over 100 other cannabinoids that can be found in hemp, each of them possess natural benefits that may help you reach certain wellness goals in your daily life.

The natural wellness industry is now buzzing around CBG (cannabigerol) and its ability to help us feel better. CBG is found in very low concentrations in the hemp plant but due to increasing research and findings, it has been discovered as a powerful wellness booster.

Thanks to extensive testing and technology, it is now possible to isolate and extract many cannabinoids, including CBG. Therefore making it more common to make CBG isolate products that are more focused toward specific benefits.

What really makes CBG that different?
CBG holds potential benefits that are more specific towards certain symptoms, such as lowering anxiety disorders, reducing inflammation and assisting treatment for movement disorders such as multiple sclerosis, arthritis and more.
While CBD only binds to the CB1 receptor, CBG connects more directly to both CB1 and CB2 and therefore creates an effective response in the endocannabinoid system. Unlike THC, CBG does not have any psychoactive effects and will not give you a “high” sensation.

What are the main conditions CBG can help with?
-Bacterial Infections. According to a study in 2008, CBG may kill bacteria such as MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) which causes drug-resistant staph infections.
-Bladder Dysfunctions. study in 2015 found that out of five different cannabinoids that are known to affect the bladder, CBG was concluded to be the one with the most promise at treating bladder dysfunctions.
-Appetite Loss. CBG could stimulate the appetite as suggested by a study conducted on rats in 2016. This benefits those with conditions such as cancer or HIV.
-Inflammatory Bowel Disease. According to a 2013 study, CBG seems to reduce inflammation associated with bowel disease.
-Huntington’s Disease. CBG’s neuroprotective properties are still being researched but according to a 2015 study, CBG might show promise in treating certain neurodegenerative conditions such as Huntington’s Disease.
-Cancer. CBG was shown to possibly reduce the growth of cancer cells and other tumors in a 2014 study.
-Glaucoma. Although medical cannabis is known to effectively treat Glaucoma, CBG might be the cannabinoid that is responsible for said effectiveness since it reduces intraocular pressure.

Is it safe to take CBG?
There are no known side effects to taking CBG however it may interact with certain prescription medications. If you take any kind of medication regularly, it would be best to consult with a health provider since CBG may affect your body’s metabolism.

How do I know which CBG product I should use?
Finding a good CBG oil or topical can be difficult since it’s still not very common to see isolate products. Purity is also a big thing you want to focus on whenever it comes to any kind of hemp-derived product. We would recommend starting with either a Full Spectrum CBD product which contains all the cannabinoids found in the hemp plant. Another great option would be to try a CBD & CBG isolate product with pure and natural ingredients. Make sure the brand you are buying from conducts third-party testing and has their pureness levels verified. This way you can save yourself a lot of trouble such as paying a fortune and getting a low level product that may not even help you achieve your wellness goals.
